Why FIFA's Decision to Yellow Card Captains for Putting ‘One Love Armband’ is Unfair

When it comes to the World Cup, there is no shortage of passion and excitement. Fans from all over the world come together to support their team and country. For many, the World Cup is more than just a    sporting event; it is a way to show support for a cause without promoting any political message.

FIFA's decision to yellow card captains for putting on one love armband during the World Cup is unfair. The armband symbolizes peace and unity, and FIFA's decision goes against the spirit of the tournament.

The armband is a symbol of showing solidarity with the LGBT community and standing up against hate and intolerance. The rainbow flag is a globally-recognized symbol of LGBTQ rights

The design features a rainbow flag in the shape of a heart with the number one in the middle, surrounded by the text "One Love"

The decision to penalize players for wearing the armband is short-sighted and counterproductive. It sends the wrong message to the world. FIFA should be promoting inclusion, not discrimination.

Wearing an armband is a way for players to show their support for a cause or issue, and it should not be punished. It suggests that players should not express their views on issues that are important to them and that they should conform to FIFA's rules and regulations.

Players should be able to express their support for important causes, without fear of punishment. The one love armband is a beautiful symbol of unity and peace, and it should be celebrated, not penalized. It's a small gesture that can mean a lot, and it's something that should be encouraged, not punished.

The fact that FIFA is willing to punish those who stand up for human rights shows that the organization is more concerned with profits than principles. This is a disgraceful decision by FIFA and one that should be overturned.

Kenyan University Graduates: Navigating the Abyss of Disillusionment

On Friday, at least 6 universities held their graduation ceremonies, marking a momentous milestone for countless Kenyan students. Congratulations, you did it! After years of late nights studying, early mornings in lecture halls, and what seemed like endless exams, you've finally earned that coveted degree. As you see your name on the graduation booklet, visions of the bright future ahead dance before your eyes.  Yet beyond the congratulatory speeches and applause, a harsh reality awaits. The challenges facing university graduates in Kenya today are vast, and the chasm between the idealistic promises of academia and the pragmatic difficulties of the real world yawns wide. Suddenly, the theories that shaped your years of study ring hypocritical when faced with the hard practicalities of life after the university gates close behind you. For many, the days following graduation mark the beginning of a disillusioned struggle to find purpose and place. The university experience, meant to ...

What Tokyo 2020 Olympics will miss from live spectators?

The sudden postponement of the Tokyo Olympics last year triggered a Mexican wave of worry globally. The event will now commence on 23rd July 2021. Scores  will be kept. Winners announced. However, fans eager to take part will not be in the venues. But, what will athletes miss from spectators? The roaring voice of crowds chanting the names of athletes won't be heard. The merchandise wearing pageantry won't be witnessed. Their responses of jubilation and anguish won't be observed either. Tokyo Olympics won't be as blissful, it won't have the same zest with no fans. Perhaps, the stadiums won't be 'live' with no crowds that throng on athletes. I struggle to make peace that some athletes may have nobody to run to on the stands after winning their races. Truth be told, fans are a secondary agent of performance improvement in athletes. Undoubtedly, lack of spectators and packed arenas will take a certain glimmering off Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Athletes will now pla...

Sports Fans - Guilty Pleasure Or Harmful Habit?

Photo by Elio Santos on Unsplash Meet the Sports Anxiety Scale: a new evaluation tool for assessing an individual's level of sports-related worry, or as psychologists call it, "sporting stress." It's designed to help guide people through their feelings and thoughts and find out their levels of "sporting stress" before they get too invested. Why Do We Invest Ourselves So Deeply? Whether it's the World Cup, the Olympics, or the Tour de France, sports fans across the globe invest themselves deeply in their team's success. But why? For some, it's simply a matter of pride. They want to be able to say that their team is the best. For others, it's about feeling a sense of community and camaraderie with other fans. And for some, it's an escape from the everyday grind of work and responsibilities. Whatever the reason, there's no denying that sports fans are some of the most passionate and dedicated people out there. And while some may see tha...
